Hello,
we are currently planning our interior layout, and in the latest version, our pantry would be completely internal (without a window). I have read in various posts that this can sometimes cause issues, depending on its use.

We intend to use the pantry for storing food as well as electrical appliances that are not used daily. It will also hold beverage crates, etc. Additionally, there is a cellar room available where food can be stored for the long term.

We are also considering placing a freezer in the pantry to save space (and improve the look) in the kitchen.

What do you think of this plan/idea? What should we be aware of?

Since there is no window, would it be possible to have ventilation through the roof (our apartment is on the upper floor)? However, I do not want to install a skylight at this point.

Best regards

We are currently building a pantry very similar to this one. We also do not have a window, but we have a mechanical ventilation system, so ventilation should be sufficient. We are planning to leave out the heating in that room for now. However, we are installing the heating system anyway to keep the option open to use the space differently in the future if desired or necessary.

We have also placed the freezer in the pantry. This gives us more space for an appliance of any size and frees up room in the kitchen.

Additionally, the pantry is where we keep the robot vacuum, cordless vacuum, and similar items, as well as beverage crates, just like you.

That sounds very much like our use case.
We are still undecided about ventilation—whether to include it or not. If we do, it will be a decentralized ventilation system.
We will also install underfloor heating but keep it turned off.

One particular detail I completely forgot to mention:
A chimney will likely run next to the pantry, which will also generate waste heat. Could this be a problem?

Do yourselves a favor and install a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery. Simply integrate the pantry into it.

I would just let go of the idea that a pantry is cooler than the rest of the living space.

I can confirm that. We had a very similar one in our previous house, just much smaller. Even with the heating turned off, it wasn’t really any cooler there than in the rest of the living area.
