Hello,
is it worth having a maintenance contract for a residential ventilation system? And what is a reasonable cost? I have five units in the apartment. Or can this be skipped by regularly replacing the filters myself? How often should the filters be changed, and are there more affordable filter options than those from the manufacturer?
Thanks for your help. Regards, Dani

I didn’t want to risk getting mold in the apartmentIf you seriously mean the second point, then you should avoid the first. At least keep the ventilation running on the minimum setting. Otherwise, the moisture inside the ducts won’t be removed and mold spores can develop there.P

I think I won’t sign a maintenance contract or buy the original filter mats, as I found a good alternative. I also won’t run the ventilation system during the summer since the windows will be open anyway. Many people don’t use the ventilation system at all inside the house because the noise bothers them. Since it’s a new build and we don’t ventilate much in winter, I didn’t want to risk getting mold in the apartment. Thanks for your advice! Can you share what alternative you are using?Daniela Sch. schrieb:
I won’t be running the ventilation system during the summer anyway since the windows will be open. Unfortunately, that is not the best idea. The system should ideally run continuously, regardless of whether you have the windows open or not. Besides, why open the windows and invite mosquitoes, pollen, dust, and so on unnecessarily? 🙂 I know, I know, people managed for thousands of years without mechanical ventilation systems, but if you already have one...

If the noise is disturbing, the system has been incorrectly calculated or installed. Ideally, depending on the ventilation level, it should be barely or not audible at all. We have the Zehnder Q350 and don’t hear anything that would be disturbing.

Why else would you open the windows? To unnecessarily let in mosquitoes, pollen, dust...? 🙂Why build a house with a garden if there are such dangerous things outside? That’s what the garden is for—you can go outside and also keep the large glass doors open. 😱Nida35a schrieb:

that is the garden, you can also go outside and leave the big glass doors open 😱You are probably right!
However, no one stops you from keeping the system running anyway, even if only at a low level 😉
My wording was a bit exaggerated since the argument for turning off the system is somewhat flawed 🙂
Also, I wasn’t referring to the deadly dangers lurking outside, but rather to the >unnecessary< 😉
