You come back from vacation and receive an email about a gas price increase.
A quick look: the consumption price has doubled, and the base price is 25% higher.
And you, who also have a gas heating system?
@Nordlys I know… but who else?

Just had a quick look:
21,000 kWh concluded for February (24-month fixed price): €12.90/month basic fee, €0.0563/kWh energy price. €940.16/year.
If I check Verivox now,
I get €8.06/month, €0.104/kWh, total €2,280.80/year. 😱
Completely insane.
Electricity looks no different, also concluded in February for 2,600 kWh, but unfortunately only for 12 months:
€13.90/month, €0.2649/kWh, €647.22/year.
New on Verivox:
€13.90/month, €0.33/kWh, €858.00/year.

Hardly. It’s not about scarcity, but about climate targets. Don’t expect gas to get cheaper, it will likely become more expensive...The current price surge has absolutely nothing to do with climate targets.
But yes, from a political standpoint, gas is being phased out — we have been emphasizing this here for years. Prices won’t go down any further.

It's not due to scarcityOf course, it is due to the (partly artificial) scarcity. Putin wants to put Nord Stream 2 into operation, Lukashenko is threatening to stop transit. In addition, energy suppliers, who miscalculated on the futures markets hoping for lower prices after only moderate increases in the first third of the year. Meanwhile, the equity capital per MWh has quadrupled since the beginning of the year. The "little bit of climate" hardly plays a role in this.

Yes, we also have gas. We even had two price increases within 2 months… one on 1st October 2021 and now another on 1st January 2022… grrrr 😕 Just a really basic question. Why are you still with the default supplier and haven’t signed a proper contract with a fixed price?
The fact that you’re affected by the price increase is unfortunately due to your own negligence/laziness and not the general rise in prices.

Unfortunately, this is due to your own negligence/laziness and not the general price increase. Well, the price increase will come at the latest after the end of the fixed price period, regardless of the current or future supplier. Also, most fixed price agreements apply only with certain limitations, usually related to factors that the utility company can directly influence. Purchase prices typically are not included. This has little to do with negligence or laziness.
