ᐅ Decentralized ventilation system with minimal visibility on the exterior facade

Hello dear building forum,

We are constructing a 210 sqm (2,260 sq ft) single-family house to KfW 55 standard and want a decentralized ventilation system. (We have deliberately decided against a central ventilation system, but this is not the topic here.)

I am looking for a system that is discreet on the exterior of the house, for example, integrated into the window reveals. We do not want to have fans visible on the facade in every room.

Who has experience and can recommend something? I look forward to the exchange. Best regards

Central systems have much quieter operating noise,
Quieter, but not by much.

no holes in your exterior walls (noise from outside),
Can be installed almost invisibly in the window reveal. Outside noise is only noticeable in very noisy environments.

easier to keep clean (only regular filter changes),
Same applies to decentralized systems.

much better ventilation performance
The ventilation performance is properly calculated for both types and is identical.

Heat recovery
... over 90% with decentralized systems.

It’s just a poor low-budget solution. I’d rather skip it altogether and ventilate manually.
Nonsense!

We had decentralized units from Meltem, which are supposed to be among the better ones. We hardly ever used them because they were very loud, caused drafts, and couldn’t be controlled centrally. Now with a central system, it’s a world of difference.

I-Tec from Internorm meets almost all your requirements, though it is priced at the higher end.
With an integrated heat exchanger, it is said to achieve heat recovery rates of up to 93%.

😀 Just searched for user reviews on this. Devastating. Already loud buzzing at the lowest setting, and on setting 3 it becomes unbearable in the room. Who would install something like this??

By the way, this was not a recommendation from me! I simply refrained from commenting on decentralized ventilation systems because the original poster explicitly did not want a central system. So here is my opinion to avoid any misunderstandings: Who would do something like that? Do it properly – done.

We also have decentralized units from Meltem—one in the living/dining/kitchen area and one in the bathroom. In the new build, there will definitely be a central system in every room.
