Who spends €15,000 on furniture???
We do – or at least close to that.
- New sofa €3,500
- New dining table €2,000
- 8 new dining chairs €3,200
- New box spring bed €1,500
and plenty of lamps, mirrors, etc.
I don’t find €15,000 that surprising now.
How much have you spent on new furniture?
Furnitureum, or RS Möbel as they are called in the North, offer great solid wood furniture and, despite their outdated website, surprisingly modern pieces at very reasonable prices. I got my sofa and dining chairs from them, and even after 5 years, I am still impressed by the quality.
They either have chairs in stock or you can order with a very wide choice of upholstery as well as leg/wood options.
They also offer solid wood tables at very fair prices, in my opinion. A few years ago, I ordered a desk with custom dimensions due to a niche size.

Thanks to all of you.
The table is just 😳... The table is 2 years old and our pride and joy. Oak tabletop made from brushed reclaimed oak... I’ll try to work through all the tips. Last night, I decided to raise my personal limit. After all, I hardly spend anything during Corona, at least I haven’t bought many seasonal clothes. My bank account definitely notices that 😉

In general, no expensive furniture comes into my home; ideally, furniture should be high-quality but affordable.
You get tired of it quickly anyway, and furniture is a functional item. Also, with some research, you can always find great bargains at very low prices.
If you do have the necessary budget, however, I recommend custom-made pieces from a trusted carpenter. Truly unique and tailored to your own taste.
For example, I think spending more than 150 euros on a dining chair is completely excessive. Or more than 2000 euros on a sofa. It can’t be that high quality; that just smells like a rip-off or brand fetish. I’m definitely not into that 🙂
Furnishing an entire house, though, I consider a budget of 15,000 euros realistic without including the kitchen or bathroom. Maybe even a bit low—that’s going to be difficult even with 100% Ikea furniture.
I’m thinking of office, dining room, living room, bedroom, two kids’ rooms, pantry, and wardrobe. That would be a maximum of 2000 euros per room. I think that’s almost impossible.
I really like these, but I don’t want the wicker weave, not even on the backrest visually.
What I’m looking for:
Upholstered, upper backrest area closed, not extremely narrow tapering, all for the look with the table
If there are armrests, they should be upholstered.
Width under 60 cm (24 inches) because of our table legs.
Preferably velvet, gold, black, dark brown.
Legs preferably black, but I’m more flexible on that.
There’s also a Thonet-style chair (replica) available with a yellow velvet look, upholstered, and affordable...
