I think Yvonne is referring to the effect where the number on the brick facade almost disappears like in a hidden picture: the line thickness is about the same as the mortar joint height, and the pattern is large-scale and regular. You’ve probably all seen those “IQ test challenges” where a picture contains the number “8” repeated hundreds of times and you have to spot a single “9” among them, with a caption like “only 1% of your friends solved this in under 3 seconds” or something like that.

Or a classic enamel sign (available in blue, black, anthracite, red backgrounds with white lettering). It might not be to everyone's taste, but the number is easy to read.

Regulations regarding house numbers can sometimes be completely absurd. Triggered by the thread, I researched what applies to us.
I had to read that in some cases it is prohibited to write, for example, 1B, while in other cases it is prohibited not to write 1B, and the opposite as well.
In one municipality near Munich, it is required that all houses have a number in white on a blue background. The reason given is, “otherwise anyone and everyone would do whatever they want.”
Truly absurd.
Along with the official notification of our house number, we were also informed about the exact appearance it must have.
Fortunately, it is moderate.

Still, as if we didn’t have enough problems already.

In our city (if I understand correctly, our municipality has not adopted all the regulations), it is specified that the house number must be placed to the right side of the front door... no comment...
