What do you like most? Why?
For us, the perfect house
What do you not like? Why?
We like everything; that’s why I’m asking here—maybe we have overlooked something.
Price estimate according to architect/planner:
Cannot say. Father-in-law and brother-in-law have their own company. The house will be a timber frame construction done entirely by ourselves. We can install electrical wiring ourselves. We can pave the yard ourselves. Drywall and jointing ourselves, etc. So, a lot of self-labor.
Personal price limit for the house, including equipment:
Preferred heating technology:

If you had to give up, which details / expansions

Why did the design turn out the way it is? For example:
Standard design from the planner?
Which wishes were implemented by the architect?
A mix of many examples from various magazines...
What do you think makes it particularly good or bad?

7 doors from the garage entrance to the living room.

Haha, I actually had to count them myself first.

5 storage rooms (6 if you count the corner next to the guest bathroom. What is that even for?)

One for every horse.

Noooo… that’s a Sims build… you can tell by the bay window and the size. Lego can’t be that big because the bricks aren’t there. Oh man, you really have no clue.

What is the maximum budget for the build? With the house size plus an attached garage, additional construction costs, and landscaping, you are looking at around 1 million.

As for the floor plan, I have just one thing to say: This mega project should be entrusted to a skilled architect!!!

@hanse987 Just forget it. It’s pointless…

- 4 bathrooms for 4 people

Tss doesn’t say that – when the whole family has a stomach flu, you’re just glad if everyone can use the bathroom at the same time…

I’d rather not comment on the rest.

Let’s start from the beginning.
1. Why do you need 350 sqm (3,767 sq ft) of living space for 2 children and 4 people in total? Wouldn’t 200-220 sqm (2,153-2,368 sq ft) be enough?
2. I thought our floor plan was like this and that, but you never stop learning.
3. €500,000 for 350 sqm (3,767 sq ft) = €1,428 per sqm (about $132 per sq ft) including additional construction costs, furniture, flooring, paint, landscaping, garage, etc. That sounds reasonable.
4. Hire an architect and plan a nice house. If you want to build that big, build it professionally.

Just because all the desired rooms are drawn to the requested (?) size does not automatically result in a coherent or even good floor plan. In other words: For you, 1 + 1 is at most 0.5, but it should add up to 2.
