ᐅ Which conduit is suitable for LAN cables?

Good morning everyone,

I have another question. In our new build, the LAN cables are being installed in protective conduits. However, there is some disagreement about the required diameter according to the relevant standards. I have read about 25mm (1 inch) conduits.
According to the electrician, a 20mm (¾ inch) conduit should be used for simplex cables up to the outlet. No pull cord or similar is planned.
This naturally raises the question for me of how a future replacement would be possible... if it is even necessary.

What size conduits would you use? Where might it make sense to install an empty conduit for future use?
Thanks everyone

We use 25 mm (1 inch) conduit, and for private household installations, the Draka UC Home cable, which is quite thin and easy to install. In private homes, 60 m (200 feet) is rarely needed.

The 20mm (0.8 inch) conduit can be used for satellite, audio cables, or simplex data cables.
The 25mm (1 inch) conduit is suitable for duplex cables.
Yesterday, we installed cables on the upper floor. Up to four coaxial cables fit into the 25mm (1 inch) conduit, or one duplex cable and one coaxial cable.
The conduit is from Fränkische.

I can only advise you to install every network outlet as a double socket.

Very good advice! I just wanted to bring this up again because this comment is priceless. Really. I don’t see any reason (except for a few cents) not to install duplex cables. Take this to heart. Those few cents (euros) are very well invested. This will automatically lead to using EN25 protective conduit.

Thank you for your tips. Unfortunately, with our electrician, it’s not just a few cents, but nearly double the price. Therefore, we will have to cut back a bit.

Well, the double price is justified. How many extra euros would you spend here? In other areas (e.g., landscaping, etc.), thousands of euros are spent that could be easily adjusted afterwards. Installing cables afterwards just isn’t...

Otherwise, you could try doing it yourself, if possible. How much does the electrician charge for wiring the outlet? Pulling the cables through carefully and laying them neatly on the floor is something you can easily manage on your own.
