ᐅ One-and-a-half-story house between two-and-a-half-story houses – opinions?

dgrexorHello Forum!
We have the opportunity to buy an affordable plot of land.
What concerns us is that we only want to build a maximum of two stories without a basement, while on the right (semi-detached house) and left (detached house) there are already 2.5-story houses with basements.
How do you think this will look? Maybe the house will seem a bit small or out of place between these taller houses and the dense surroundings? What do you think? Have you encountered similar situations?
I would appreciate many opinions and perspectives.
Best regards,
Gregor

If you want to build two floors anyway, that’s not an issue. Are you planning to have full stories?
If I were you, I would build two full stories and match the neighboring buildings. That means having a large attic that you can convert later if needed.
Building without a basement is also no problem. We are currently building a semi-detached house where the other half has a basement. We are building without a basement and had around 8,000 to 10,000 euros in additional foundation costs, but a basement would have been much more expensive... Technically, it’s no problem.
Best regards,
Micha

Thank you for your response. In our case, shadowing is not to be expected in the west-facing garden. I am really just concerned about the appearance of the house among taller and wider houses. Our house can only be 8m (26 feet) wide. The neighboring houses are wider and taller.
