We are currently in the planning phase of converting the upper floor. This would give us a terrace of 40.24 sqm (433 sq ft). The width on the south side is about 2.40 meters (7 ft 10 in), so it is rather long and narrow. Since the roof is very low at one point (1.50 m (4 ft 11 in)) on the southeast side in the slope, you cannot walk through there. Therefore, we have two doors – one on the east and one on the south side.
In the niche created on the south side, I was thinking of placing a seating area here. On the east side, facing the morning sun, a small table. On the southwest side, I would like some kind of lounge chair, like a shell chair – as a relaxation zone. An outdoor kitchen is probably out of the question here.
I would also like to have some plants on the terrace.
Since I feel quite uncreative in this regard, I would really appreciate your great opinions and tips. The terrace can be extended slightly. SLIGHTLY.
Please be patient with me if something is not clearly written.
Best regards and stay healthy!

Can you please repeat everything again with an explanation of where south and the roofed area are? Southwest? And what kind of tips do you want now? Furniture? Planting?Of course. The roofed area is marked on the plan. The lowest point is at the angled wall. I’m looking for tips on how to best design the terrace. It’s important to have a dining table, a lounge area, and also a grill. Planting ideas would be great, but I have no clue at all.
P.S.: South is at the bottom of the plan.
I wouldn’t plan anything in advance. You can always rearrange the furniture.
Place the dining table where it feels comfortable and works well with the kitchen. Arrange the lounge chairs where you want them. If it doesn’t fit, just move it around.
It will all come together naturally once you start living in the house.

Draw a layout to check if the furniture fits.
There are many options for plants,
ranging from fruits and vegetables to bamboo and geraniums.
Browse Pinterest, visit garden centers when open, or check online retailers.
Pay attention to the location regarding shade, partial shade, and sun exposure.
Then choose plants suitable for containers.
