ᐅ What should I consider regarding Wi-Fi?

Hello,

I would like to have Wi-Fi coverage throughout the entire house.

Here is my plan:

- On the ground floor, the router will be placed under the stairs, in front of the utility room (the space is not fully recessed, standing height)
- On the first floor, an access point will be installed at the staircase leading to the attic (ceiling height)
- In the attic, another access point will be mounted in the hallway on the drywall partition wall (ceiling height)

Question: Is this setup sufficient, and are these locations suitable? Can you recommend any specific products?

Thanks and regards!

Green or blue doesn’t make a difference.

POE or power outlet as well. With POE, you save a cable but need a POE switch or use injectors. Both options have advantages and disadvantages.

Install one access point per floor, and you'll be more than covered.

But red would be better?

POE switch

Is that then connected to the router?

I would go with the blue option.

Regarding the terrace, I think the Wi-Fi signal from the router might be weak there, so I would add an access point on the ground floor. The question is, of course, where to place it. Having an access point on the ceiling in the living/dining area wouldn’t be ideal.
One idea could be an outdoor access point, like a Unifi outdoor access point, or a Unifi in-wall access point in the living/dining area.

Maybe there will be a cabinet there, possibly a large one for bedding, etc. = potential obstruction?

Unifi outdoor access point

Anyone has experience with it?

Unifi inWall in living/dining area.

Visually almost the same, right?

The inWall is mounted on the wall and I find it quite unobtrusive. An advantage is that the HD version also has a built-in 4-port switch, which is ideal for TVs and similar devices.

So, does this still need to be installed at ceiling height? In theory, it could then be placed in the partition wall between the living room and dining area, where LAN will be installed anyway?
