For everyone still considering whether to install some form of cooling, I would say YES!
Today it’s almost 40°C (104°F) outside. Phew! Luckily, back then we opted for "cooling yes or no?" and chose yes.

Our cooling runs very energy-efficiently through our ground source heat pump in the floor (the cold is basically just pumped upwards). We have a comfortable 22.1°C (72°F) in the rooms.

Honestly, this climate change is really annoying me. If anyone has a plot of land to sell cheaply at the North Cape, please get in touch.

Currently, it’s 32 degrees Celsius (90°F) in our living room, but only 26 degrees Celsius (79°F) in the bedroom. The green facade helps.
But how long will this heat last? We can manage for a few days. Of course, if cooling doesn’t come with a significant extra cost, I would include it in a new build. But even without it, it’s not a big deal. I remember from my grandmother’s house that it used to be quite warm inside during summer as well. For me, this is nothing new.

By the way... the pool temperature is 34 degrees Celsius (93°F), as I just checked. Either we oversized the solar heating system, or the pool is still too small (a cheap 5-meter (16 feet) above-ground pool) ^^ I’ll go turn off the heater and open the fresh water supply now...

We have at least a portable air conditioner in our current rental apartment. This allows us to cool down the children's room and bedroom for falling asleep. Best investment of 2019 so far.

My in-laws need something like that too. What is the device called?

We have a comfortable 28 degrees Celsius (82°F) inside the house; 22 degrees Celsius (72°F) would be too cold for me indoors. For us, it is even warmer in winter.
This year, we got a nice pool in the garden, which provides cooling.

Best regards,
Sabine

The Hantech 9000 was on sale at Hornbach a few weeks ago for 199. It is important to convert to a dual-hose system (ask Aunt Google), as this makes these units significantly more efficient. Yesterday, I cooled the children's room from 27 to 24 degrees Celsius (81 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit) in 1.5 hours. And the little ones are happy about it.
