We also have straps... once we finally decided to install roller shutters at all...

If I had known that “you end up with such a bulky thing hanging there” (no offense intended), we would have gone with electric ones by now.

The straps are supposed to be inside the wall as well...
These surface-mounted solutions are really terrible.

I have another question... Is a wood-burning stove practical in a timber frame construction? I am expecting to receive an offer from Scanhaus Marlow soon. On the phone, they mentioned that it might not be advisable to install one because the house could get too hot!?

This applies to all modern houses, not just timber frame structures.

A wood stove is not necessary in a new build, whether it is made of stone, brick, or timber frame.
I find the warmth comfortable.
If you have to buy firewood, I would not choose one.
Otherwise, I wouldn’t either.

I find roller shutters with a strap better than those with a crank.
Electric operation is a different matter and clearly better, but it is not a must if the budget is low and tight.
