Hello,

I will try to get straight to the point.
Can someone briefly explain the differences between what I would call "prefabricated wooden houses," like Scanhaus Marlow, Danwood, Massahaus, etc., and wooden houses from networks like 81fünf that promote traditional carpentry companies from the local region?

What are the advantages and disadvantages?

Thank you very much.

Only comparing the detailed scope of work helps here.
A timber frame is not just a timber frame.
Which materials are used?
Is there an installation layer included or not?
What is prefabricated at the factory?
Some suppliers deliver timber frames with one side covered with MDF, with the rest completed on site—up to finished walls including windows, base plaster, and plumbing installation.

Who exactly is the 81fünf network?
Scanhaus Marlow Marlow and Danwood seem to focus on price-sensitive customers, while Massa Haus builds shell houses (partially finished houses).

To my knowledge, the timber frame construction method mentioned there is the same as timber stud construction, which you refer to as “prefabricated wooden houses.”
As an architect, you need to present yourself somehow. Being grouped together with nationwide prefab homes would, in my opinion, be incorrect.
The combination of elements or wall structure is often similar but not identical.
I can imagine that the architect or this association also chooses wood cladding, while companies like Danwood and others tend to use plaster or brick veneer.

To be honest, we have already visited such a company but wanted to get an independent opinion here before commenting.

What I gathered during the visit to our acquaintance’s carpentry business is the difference:

Insulation completely without ETICS (external thermal insulation composite systems) of any kind
There is an installation level
Cellulose insulation aiming to meet the KfW 55 standard
NO ventilation or door frame ventilation.

So basically, just as we wanted to build, only "just" with wood instead of masonry.

I’m not concerned about every last detail right now. I just want to understand whether there is a huge difference between the mostly regional companies and the "big" ones that is merely marketed differently, or if they really are two completely different approaches.
