Hi everyone,
I’ve just started a list of things I don’t want to forget during the house-building process.
It’s more about the small details. I thought maybe you could help expand the list for me and future builders?
It would be great to keep adding to it, while keeping debates like “you don’t really need that” to a minimum 🙂
Then people can simply go through the “list” here and think for themselves, “I need that too” or “that’s nonsense” 🙂
I’ll just start:
1. Outdoor water tap
2. Motion sensor lights (hallways, pantry)
3. (Passive) stair lighting (downward-facing spotlights)
4. Prepare conduits for photovoltaic system
5. Heavy-duty power supply in garage
6. Switched power outlets in garden
7. Provision for camera at front door
8. LAN connections (3x living room, 2x office, 1x per child’s room, 1x bedroom)
9. Window seat bench
10. Door in garage (from outside, not connected to the house)
Hope you have some more good ideas 🙂
Regards

Laundry chute from the main bathroom to the utility room, including proper planning to ensure the same aligns above.
Shower in the guest bathroom. In every bathroom. Floor-to-ceiling.
Space for a network cabinet in the utility room.
Network cables routed to the attic for additional uses (injecting satellite signal into the network, cameras with PoE in the attic, etc.).
Only dual LAN outlets.
LAN in every room. Even your refrigerator needs LAN. Smart mirror in the bathroom? Needs LAN... And of course in the hallway, for Wi-Fi.
Recess in the screed inside, behind the apartment door, where a mat can be placed.
The pantry has a door to the carport. Convenient.

WilhelmRo30 Apr 2019 11:57Thanks @fragg – we don’t need a laundry chute – utility room on the upper floor : )
But maybe interesting for others.
I’ve included LAN wiring to the attic for myself.
We are getting a gable roof – it was also mentioned to avoid skylights in the bedrooms to be able to sleep well even during rain and so on.
I also have the point about clerestory windows. A glass element above the door frame to bring light into the hallway.
Thanks, Karsten. From your list, I’ve noted the utility sink : )
I would have liked a beach chair too – but in Bavaria, we only have mountains, no sea : )
Best regards

Then plan for outdoor electrical outlets.
But window sills, high-voltage power, and any kind of indirect lighting are definitely personal customization options and do not belong under the topic "What not to forget when building a house."I think for those who are completely confused by the original post about why a checklist includes this and that, it should be said that these are personal customizations and they don’t necessarily have to include the items you mentioned.
Off topic, regarding your private message:
If my posts don’t provide you with any value, feel free to add me to your ignore list.
Why would I put someone on my ignore list just because they don’t like my posts?
