Hi everyone,
I’ve just started a list of things I don’t want to forget during the house-building process.
It’s more about the small details. I thought maybe you could help expand the list for me and future builders?
It would be great to keep adding to it, while keeping debates like “you don’t really need that” to a minimum 🙂
Then people can simply go through the “list” here and think for themselves, “I need that too” or “that’s nonsense” 🙂
I’ll just start:
1. Outdoor water tap
2. Motion sensor lights (hallways, pantry)
3. (Passive) stair lighting (downward-facing spotlights)
4. Prepare conduits for photovoltaic system
5. Heavy-duty power supply in garage
6. Switched power outlets in garden
7. Provision for camera at front door
8. LAN connections (3x living room, 2x office, 1x per child’s room, 1x bedroom)
9. Window seat bench
10. Door in garage (from outside, not connected to the house)
Hope you have some more good ideas 🙂
Regards

It depends on where you live and how.
Last year, I did not miss having air conditioning. Visitors even assumed we had one.
The greened steep slope behind our house provides good weather protection.
Ventilation system in summer mode
Shading.
In children’s rooms and living areas, plan windows on two sides. This way, plenty of light still gets into the rooms.

What you should never forget when building a house?
That the bank owns the house until it is fully paid off... For some, that can be 10, 20, or even 30+ years... This teaches humility and builds character.
An outdoor shower would be indispensable for me. It’s really nice in summer, and you can clean the dog outside after a mud fight and then dry them off clean inside.

Considering access to the garden is also important: How do you get tools and equipment into the garden and out again?

1. Land-related topics (purchase, notary, taxes, etc.)
2. Additional costs and services (insurance, utility connections, etc.)
3. Architecture and building
4. Technical installations (heating, ventilation, plumbing, electrical)
5. Interior fittings (kitchen, furniture, etc.)
6. Garden and exterior landscaping
7. Moving
Such a list can also be associated with costs and used as a cost checklist throughout the construction process.
