We have just received two quotes for windows. The building is an industrial facility undergoing renovation. There are 20 units, triple-glazed, approximately 1.60m x 1.20m (5.25 ft x 3.94 ft) including installation, white, with the same safety ratings.

Quote 1: about 35,000 Euros.
Quote 2: about 9,000 Euros.

That can’t be right? Is there some mistake? Did the second company make an error? Think again!
Quote 2 is from a German company offering windows sourced from Poland. Quote 1 is for windows made in Germany.

Seriously. There is a really large manufacturer in Poland, Drutex. They produce everything themselves and are located near Gdańsk. There are also numerous smaller window factories, whose names I don’t know, that, just like here in Germany, process profiles from brand manufacturers into windows. In Poland, often Veka profiles are used, since Veka, as far as I know, also has profile factories in Poland. So it’s basically the assembly of prefabricated industrial parts. Here, as I said, there are Roton handles and hinges, Veka profiles, glass from ? The result is a window whose labels mentioned Szczecin (Stettin).

Fittings and the U-value, as far as I know, are the differences between the windows. We built using GU. I believe the window installer said he gets 250 euros per window, including the roller shutter.

Last year, during a renovation that turned out to be very affordable due to our upcoming new build, I bought a window from Drutex at a very good price and installed it myself. So far, I have not found anything wrong with this window – it is completely airtight.

So, would you also use Drutex in new construction? Entire hotels have been equipped with Drutex here. No problems at all.

I would have no hesitation using it for my new build, but now I’m opting for a step up to aluminum/larch because the budget allows. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have any problem choosing these windows. For the price, they’re excellent.

We also used them in our renovation of a single-family house. 50m² (538 sq ft) of window area including the front door, triple-glazed with warm edge spacer and colored foil. 9,000 gross including installation for Drutex, about 12,000 gross with profiles from a German manufacturer (name escapes me right now).
No complaints about the windows.

What do you mean by difference? Between "German" and "Polish" windows? Drutex uses fittings from Mako – you find those in 50% of German manufacturers too. U-values are the same everywhere; Drutex offers everything from passive house windows with a Uw of 0.7 to standard ones at 1.2, just like most others.

@kaho674 Converted from our area of 50m² (including front door with Uw 1.0), we paid about €270 / m² (around $270 / sq ft) including foil and installation!
Without foil it would have been about €250 / m² (about $250 / sq ft). For your 20 windows / 38m² (409 sq ft), that would be around €9,600 ($9,600). That seems reasonable.
But €35,000 ($35,000) seems excessive – our highest offer was €400 / m² ($400 / sq ft) (all without plastering work).

HOWEVER: Our installers were a complete disaster, and in the end I didn’t pay everything and fixed the defects myself.
Make absolutely sure the installation is done properly and ideally demand a RAL-compliant installation in writing. Ask how it will be carried out and check carefully!
