Hello,

I built a house this year and installed vinyl flooring from the company Tilo on the ground floor. The floor has been in place since August, and recently I noticed several long scratches on it, but I still can’t figure out where they might have come from... My question is, is there any way to remove scratches from vinyl floors?

I would be very grateful for any helpful answers!

Vinyl is really low quality. It was already sold as cheap PVC 30 years ago. Fortunately, we only have it in the basement.

As I mentioned, I’m not referring to deep grooves, but rather a lot of fine scratches that become visible under certain lighting and with close inspection. Visually and to the touch, I found the vinyl very pleasant.

Still 1000 times better than tiles in the living area, preferably those matte white, square ones without any pattern. Pure slaughterhouse look.

I don’t understand what the problem is. Our vinyl floor is very dark, and after moving in, there was a visible scratch in the kitchen because the kitchen installer was a bit clumsy. It was gone in a minute after using a black permanent marker.
Other than that, no small scratches, dents, or anything else can be seen. It doesn’t feel “cheap” either. Our price per square meter was a little over 40€/m2 (approximately 3.70 USD/ft2).
But it’s like everywhere: you never know in advance how things will turn out. You always learn something new...

Yep, totally agree. Incredibly uninviting...

I have rarely read such a nuanced comment.

If it’s glued down without an underlayment, then you can remove the affected planks and glue in new ones. At least, theoretically.
But I would also be annoyed by scratches showing up after such a short time—maybe from the move?

No, it’s a click vinyl!
