We are planning a bungalow.
Our builder has offered 1500 € for installing a relatively good satellite dish on the roof.
What do you think of this offer? If I do it myself, what would the cost be?
What is your suggestion?
Best regards

Oh, that’s what I wanted to ask as well. I will have a total of 4 connections in the attic (2x living room, kitchen, possibly bedroom). Nowadays, people often talk about Quattro LNBs with multiswitches, but I could also use a Quatro LNB for four TVs without an external multiswitch. Which one would you recommend?
Thanks in advance

We have three outputs with the LNB integrated multi-switch. One socket is still free. It works without any problems. KarstenYou probably mean a Quattro with 4 outputs and an integrated multi-switch?Mike29 schrieb:
The expert described the option "also works and is cheap," and Dipol the option "works, professionally correct, but more expensive due to better components." Just because the light bulb in a lamp is on does not mean the electrical system is safe. Likewise, picture and sound on the TV are not proof that grounding and the equipotential bonding system are functioning properly.
Whenever grounding and equipotential bonding come up, far too often an uninformed layperson appears, posting their standards-free opinions. Worse still, only a few electricians can provide up-to-date proof of compliance with VDE selection subscriptions, and especially in antenna installation, most only do what they have always done.

I plan to do everything myself. Grounding and equipotential bonding are an integral part of the electrical system and according to NAV § 13, their installation is reserved for licensed electrical professionals. Whether the least trustworthy electrician knows the standards and actually follows them is only revealed afterwards.

I have also selected (but not yet purchased) the roof battens holder, mast, dish with LNB, and multiswitch. Only if you post your material list and preferably a distribution network sketch with approximate length indications can the quality and completeness be assessed.

Installing the satellite would actually be no problem. I know exemplary systems installed by well-informed laypeople, but unfortunately many more where installations were done cluelessly, leaving one shaking their head.
Professional knowledge, practical experience, tools such as cable stripping tools for self-installation or compression connectors, and an antenna measuring device cannot be replaced by pure optimism.

It is now about special roof tiles with seals and lightning protection. Can I do the work after the bungalow’s construction phase or during it? When users ask about mechanical details like which roof flashing to choose (I generally use rolled lead and a good neoprene collar), serious doubts about competence for self-performance are justified.

How useful is the lightning protection? If necessary, can I do it myself? If you have absolutely no idea how external lightning protection must be installed according to the state of the art—with a separate lightning rod or at least a lightning-current-capable direct antenna grounding along with equipotential bonding according to recognized technical rules (= minimum standards)—you should better leave it to the professionals who still know what IEC 60728-11 requires. According to DIN 18015, data, telephone, and antenna cables must be installed in empty conduits capable of carrying the cables.
PS: Your peculiar spelling strikingly resembles the multiple nicknames used by cantöner, dieMaus, gloss, mediamedia, playuser, Smart, tim3 (list possibly incomplete). Now also zizzi?
