ᐅ Realistic Carport Costs? How Much Did Your Carport Cost?

Hello everyone,

After casually asking my architect about the costs for our planned carport, he estimated, based on volume calculations, that the carport would cost around €19,000.

The carport is planned to be about 6.25m x 8.5m (20.5ft x 27.9ft), including a storage room and a bicycle room—basically a classic double carport with two lockable sliding doors at the back for storing garden equipment.

Does anyone here have experience if this figure is accurate? My parents had a brick-faced double garage with a sectional door about 15 years ago (they got around +€5,000 for it), which might be comparable.

Maybe the architect had something like that in mind, which actually matches my ideas. See the picture

The price is due to the fact that it is made of wood and can be greened. If the latter isn’t required, it would definitely be cheaper.
This has nothing to do with a DIY store anymore.

Understood. Our land use plan requires flat roofs in the development area to be extensively greened. If this also applies to a carport (I’m not sure yet), then I would accept the cost.

Just because it looks nice and green from the bedroom window wouldn’t be my motivation to spend money.

This really adds extra costs. I would estimate at least €5,000 for the stronger material due to structural requirements, plus another €2,000–3,000 for the greenery itself.
In any case, I’m annoyed that the authorities missed excluding carports from the regulations. You either end up with very large beams or go straight to steel structures, a prefabricated garage, or in-situ concrete.

So, we are paying a total of €23,000 for our masonry garage with storage room (5.00 m x 7.5 m) including foundations, concrete floor, flat roof, drainage, electrical work, windows, door, and gate.

$30,000 for a garage or $15,000 for a carport... Wow...
It's quite something that people simply accept these prices.

A $15,000 carport and then parking an old Fiesta underneath...

These are the kinds of things I believe you can get much more reasonably, for example, in Poland. They are known for their excellent craftsmanship, and their prices are still affordable.

Of course, if it’s a garage with direct access to the house and matching the main building’s design, it naturally becomes more expensive.
But even then, paying around $50,000 is quite generous for the builders.

I’m happy for them! Everyone gets what they deserve.

So, we are paying just over 9,000 for a 6 x 8.75 m (20 x 29 ft) carport with a storage shed and one closed side from our carport manufacturer in Grabow, including installation.

Are there also stylish aluminum carports like the ones shown in the first post?
