Hello everyone,
with the renovation of our old building, a new bathroom has also been added.
I’m more of a “shower person,” but on cold, wet days a hot bath isn’t a bad idea. Now I have – hopefully not the only one – the problem that when bathing I get pressure pain on my lower spine and, at the latest, one hour after the bath, bruises appear, which naturally takes away the enjoyment.
Standard bath mats could probably help, but honestly: they are not very attractive. No matter the manufacturer or brand – even the well-known ones – I don’t really like any of them. I also don’t like having these things stuck on the edge of the tub after bathing, just so no ugly marks form on the tub bottom. Last time I just placed a towel underneath; not a permanent solution.
How do you enjoy your bath, or am I the only one with this problem?

We have a so-called body-shaped bathtub and do not experience the mentioned problems. Your bathtub seems to be more angular. Is it comfortable to lie in? MeinerEiner yes

Hmm, with pain from pressure later on? No; he actually enjoys it. The bathtub itself isn’t perfectly straight either; the backrest allows for a comfortable fit, as its shape is designed for that.
I’m just much taller—22cm (9 inches) taller than him; he enjoys bathing a lot, whereas I do it less often—so we tried to find a compromise. Maybe I’m also a bit too lean in the extended spine area due to the double workload over the past months. I think I’ll start looking for a granulate cushion or consider Yvonne’s suggestion of a small bench.

How long?
ypg schrieb:1.61 m (5 ft 3 in)
And how tall are you?
ypg schrieb:If I only fill the tub halfway: yes.
Can you reach the edge with your feet, and do you use that for support?
ypg schrieb:Lying test? You must be joking.
I took a look – the slope of the tub on the lying side is quite steep... maybe you didn’t take a (long enough) lying test because of the stress?
ypg schrieb:Good idea, but that won’t work; I like my bath lukewarm, while my partner prefers it hot.
Either you use the tub with two people in the future, so you get a different position to “shorten” it,
ypg schrieb:That idea has something to it; kind of two-in-one.
Otherwise, I also thought of a sandbag.

Liegeprobe? Du machst Scherze It’s not unreasonable. We always tried lying down in the show homes as well. I think you really have to do that, otherwise you might be in for a surprise.

Bauexperte28 Oct 2016 09:28Good morning Uwe,
I can believe that, and we probably would have done the same under normal circumstances.
Over the past few months—alongside our jobs—we have privately renovated two existing properties; I’m glad I finally found time to coordinate the height of the toilets.
Best regards, Bauexperte
