Hello,
currently, I am working on the electrical planning. I am wondering whether network cabling makes sense in a new build or not. So far, I have planned only a double socket in the living room and a double socket in the office. Nowadays, people mostly use tablets or laptops and connect via Wi-Fi. What is your opinion on this?

And you only get the data rates and (continued) stability you want with wired connections.
Most people have a Wi-Fi router. Then two people browse the internet, while another streams a movie, and someone else plays a game.
At that point, the Wi-Fi bandwidth usually takes a serious hit.
Paying a fee can improve things, but most don’t do that. Hence the advice to use sufficient cabling.
Of course, Wi-Fi is needed for mobile devices and similar – that’s why I have an access point on all three floors.

Everything works better with the use of coins, but most people don’t do that. That’s why I recommend having sufficient cabling. I don’t like to compare apples and oranges. As I said, the cabling and sockets don’t come for free either.

Sebastian791 Jul 2016 18:38What are you trying to tell me about "a lot"? On each floor, I only have reception from the respective access point – of course, it is one network where devices roam... it wouldn't work any other way...
Sure, cables have to be paid for as well, but that wasn't the question...
