Hello,
currently, I am working on the electrical planning. I am wondering whether network cabling makes sense in a new build or not. So far, I have planned only a double socket in the living room and a double socket in the office. Nowadays, people mostly use tablets or laptops and connect via Wi-Fi. What is your opinion on this?

Right now, not everything is connected everywhere. Oh, I understood that differently. We have 14 double sockets, so 28 ports. About 10 are needed/used
(NAS, PC, network printer, TV, music system 1, Wi-Fi access point, music system 2, Fritzbox, ...) though the children don’t have their own devices yet.

Does a double socket mean that one cable goes from the socket to the switch, or are there two separate cables?
Regards,
Oliver

Hello,
we had empty conduit pipes installed in almost every room. That way, you can install whatever you want later on. Running network cables and satellite cables into the children’s rooms today, when they might not be needed for at least 10 years (our daughter is 1.5 years old and the second child is just being planned), seemed a bit pointless to me.
Best regards,
AndreasHow much do 100 meters (330 feet) of cable cost compared to the overall cost of the house?
Before I regret it later because pulling cables gets stuck, I’d rather do it now, especially if they will be needed eventually anyway.
