ᐅ Window height for higher ceilings

we are currently considering the height of the individual windows in our house. The ceiling on the ground floor is planned to be about 2.70m (8 ft 10 in) high. Standard windows usually start at around 90cm (35 inches) sill height and are about 125cm (49 inches) tall. With a 2.70m (8 ft 10 in) ceiling, there would still be more than half a meter of wall above the window. Should we simply plan for taller windows, or would that look odd from the outside? How tall are your (non-floor-to-ceiling) windows?

I believe there isn’t really a standard for this.
If you want to install roller shutters / venetian blinds, add approximately 20-25cm (8-10 inches) for them and another 20cm (8 inches) for the lintel. That means a lintel height of 2.3 m (7 ft 7 in). I would then plan the windows to be about 1.4 m (4 ft 7 in) high with a 90 cm (35 inches) sill height. Without roller shutters, I would even plan for 1.6 m (5 ft 3 in).

With ceiling heights of 2.72 meters (8 ft 11 in) and parapet heights of 0.92 meters (3 ft), the window height is 1.51 meters (4 ft 11 in). For floor-to-ceiling windows, the height is 2.42 meters (7 ft 11 in).

There are no roller shutters on the parapet windows, but there are venetian blinds on the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Do you possibly have a photo of the windows? So you only have about 30 cm (12 inches) left for the roller shutters and lintel, or is the lintel in the ceiling?
