Hello everyone,
I have a question. The base of my garage absorbs water when it rains (see picture).
Is this a defect or is it normal? Can the facade be damaged as a result?
I only have this issue on the west side, where the paving is directly adjacent.
On the south side, which has a gravel strip, there is no issue. The house itself is also not affected.

It is important to distinguish between moisture rising from below through the plaster and moisture caused by rain splash from the paving onto the base. The latter cannot be avoided without a gravel strip but is likely less problematic, as it dries out. The former requires waterproofing with a sealing slurry or a similar solution.

I will now contact the construction company as the next step. That is definitely the right step.
Address the issue calmly, factually, and professionally, point it out clearly, and then find a solution together. There will definitely be a solution!
I wish you the best of luck.
Best regards,
Thorsten

Did the construction company also do the paving work? No, the paving work was done by someone else.

lastdrop got there before me. Additionally, I would ask what your building insurance recommended regarding the paving around the garage.
To identify the “culprit,” more information is needed. For example, whether the paver was a professional contractor and what the general consensus was in discussions about moisture issues.
