ᐅ Install baseboards immediately after tile installation or at a later stage

LeguritHello everyone,
we have a lot of tiling going on, and our tiler said he would prefer to install the skirting tiles later because of the screed settling and moisture (so that it can still escape somewhere).
Some acquaintances said they would definitely skip the silicone joint, as otherwise there is a risk that it might crack.
Is it normal to wait with the skirting boards (also tiles)? I’m asking because we have already been to several new builds where this was done right away.
Best regards

Some leave the joints open, others close them, knowing they will crack (which means they are not covered by the warranty).Trust your gut feeling.

Bauexperte25 Dec 2015 08:10Thank you, you too!
We had the work done, and so far (after 1.5 years) there has only been one crack about 30cm (12 inches) long in the bathroom. I repaired it myself in about 5 minutes using silicone of the same color. It is only visible if you know about it and look very closely. All other areas (another bathroom, both hallways, stairs, dining kitchen, large office, etc.) have remained completely flawless so far. In my opinion, waiting wouldn’t have helped, except that dirt and hair would have collected in the gaps over 1.5 years (and possibly cat vomit/hairballs, no thanks).
