Hello everyone,

I’m completely new here and really glad to have found this forum.

I’m currently working on assembling my IKEA kitchen in alder birch. I’m really looking forward to when everything is finished and the kitchen can be put to use.

Now to my question above:

I urgently need a way to connect the baseboard around a corner!?? Basically, a standard outside corner for the 16cm (6 inch) baseboard!
But I just can’t seem to find anything, not at IKEA, not at the hardware store...

Can anyone help me out here?

Best regards, Sarreländer

Hello,
could you please clarify your question a bit more? I’m not sure yet why it would be necessary to connect the baseboard.

When it comes to connecting, for example, the side cladding with the front cladding: this is actually quite clearly shown in the assembly instructions. There is no separate trim for the outer edges – the cut surface is finished with the included edge banding.

Well, I thought about how it’s done on countertops, for example. There are outside corners, inside corners, and end finishes.
My baseboards run around corners, that’s why.

@ IKEA-Freund

Sorry, my baseboards are still packed (I just finished tiling today).
Does the baseboard need to be miter cut, or how?

Do you understand what I mean with my question? Joining baseboards at a 90-degree angle...

The base panels are only clipped onto the feet. At the corners, they are not joined but simply butted together, as shown in the installation manual. They are not meant to be permanently connected at the corners, allowing the panels to be easily removed at any time.

I opened the packaging for the baseboard ... it shows that it is normally installed with a butt joint or miter joint and apparently glued with silicone or adhesive.

Personally, I would prefer a neat plastic outside corner ... but well, I will keep looking.
