Hello,
we are considering installing wood-look tiles in our house (which is quite modern and open). I think these tiles, when well made, look really nice. I am just a bit skeptical whether I will still like them in a few years. Does anyone know a good manufacturer of wood-look tiles?

Light gray goes with almost everything, but the color looks very artificial in wood effect.

So would you prefer light gray concrete look? That would be our alternative. On Friday, we have an appointment for consultation and floor plans.

While I’m on the topic, can you say that certain tile sizes don’t fit well with specific room shapes? The wood-look tiles would be 90x20cm (35x8 inches).
Is it possible to estimate the extra installation effort for a format like that? Our construction manager said that for tilers, anything up to 30x60cm (12x24 inches) is considered standard, but above that, there are extra charges for oversized tiles.

What are some other neutral, understated tile colors? I like slate, but I’m worried it might not quite suit our fairly conventional lifestyle.
I find terracotta cozy, but my wife doesn’t want it.

I have a sample tile with a concrete look from Ceramica Celtica, sized 60cm x 60cm (24 inches x 24 inches), with a grayish tint. I laid six sample tiles at home, but the gray appears very cool. Beige would be a warmer tone.

My wife said the same. However, she also preferred gray in the store.
This 90x20 cm (35x8 inches) tile was also available in brown, but it had too many knots (as ironic as that may sound for a tile).

Take a look at sandstone colors; there are light gray as well as beige shades available. The light combination matches all types of wood and surfaces. I have posted an example on my blog. However, I also find concrete look to be very interesting.
