ᐅ Which type of facing brick or clinker is this? Does anyone have experience with these materials?

pffreestyler17 Jul 2018 10:58Hello,
we are currently still searching for the right brick. We had actually both agreed on one, but its WDF format would have meant an additional cost of around €3,500, which would have strained our budget.
Now we have found a budget-friendly alternative in the NF format. Unfortunately, the intermediary does not want to disclose the name, and the only reference building is a bungalow. We still like the brick there, but based on our experience, the appearance of a brick can also depend on the house style/type. Therefore, we would like to see the brick once more on a 1.5-story gable roof house.
Attached are the photos. We imagine it would look nice with anthracite windows, gray mortar joints, and a black roof.
Perhaps someone knows the name of this brick...

As long as you are building with solid construction, I would always find lightweight wood framing more suitable than exterior wall insulation (EWI). If the facing bricks don’t align with the eight-unit pattern, it will result in complicated connections.

I like the stone – and no, I don’t know what it’s called.
However, hopefully you can find someone who is better at bricklaying – there are continuous mortar joints at every corner, which I personally don’t like at all. In our case, the bricks were always staggered around the corners, and we only have the expansion joint next to the neighbor...

there are continuous joints at every corner, That's exactly why I’m talking about solid prefabricated houses. These are available with brick cladding already prefabricated, of course with each wall panel separately, and then a continuous facing shell ties it all together as a whole.

pffreestyler18 Jul 2018 08:15We didn’t pay much attention to the construction company’s sign at the time because we assumed the agent would have more addresses for us. With other bricks, he usually provides a whole list of references. The construction site isn’t exactly nearby either, so it’s not easy to visit again quickly.
I’m not too worried about the masonry work – it’s a local family business with a good reputation. It should be fine.
I have since learned that this is a fairly new type of brick, which has only been used once before in this region… so there are no additional reference addresses.
