Hello!

We are currently exploring the topic of building a house, with plans to start next year. We are still very much at the beginning and have not yet decided whether to go with traditional solid construction or opt for a prefabricated house.

I’m interested in your personal opinions on this topic. What do you prefer, what are the advantages and disadvantages, and how did you make your decision?

Best regards,
Leela

<- Prefabricated house.
You can read countless discussions about the pros and cons of this on this forum. In the end, our decision was close and based on many factors.

Clearly charcoal... You can’t really grill on gas, since you miss the ash flavor on the meat.

Ah yes, and regarding the question: timber frame prefabricated house, and I would do it again.

Definitely gas... You can’t grill over ashes because the meat ends up covered in ash.

Ah yes, and to answer the question: solid construction house, and I would choose it again.

You jokers
What are your reasons for preferring one option over the other?

We decided on a solid prefabricated house made from Liapor wall panels. The walls are delivered dry straight from the factory, which eliminates the drying phase—that was a major advantage for us. Additionally, the walls have a smooth surface and are ready for painting.

The Liapor wall panels offer other benefits as well: they provide thermal insulation and thermal mass, sound insulation, and resistance to moisture and fire.

The good sound insulation can also be seen as a downside since mobile phone reception inside such a house is very poor or even nonexistent. Wi-Fi is also significantly limited. We have installed network connections in all living areas, which will help us work around the Wi-Fi issue, but I still need to find a solution for the mobile phone reception.
