Hello,
I would appreciate practical advice on the recommended garage size for the following setup:
- 1 vehicle
- 4 bicycles, 1 Croozer trailer
- Various small scooters and similar items for the children
- 1 charcoal grill
- Lawn mower
- Garden tools
Attached you will see the canopy between the house and the garage that we are considering. This space could also occasionally accommodate a second vehicle, store the bikes during the day, hold a folding table and bench set for barbecue evenings when the weather is bad, and so on.
What size would you recommend? Ideally, the back part of the garage would be somewhat separated for bikes and similar items. A side door here would make it easier to move the bikes in and out without having to squeeze past the car.
So far, we have received offers for garages sized 6 x 4 meters (20 x 13 feet) and 3 x 7 meters (10 x 23 feet).
Thank you for your opinions!

We have now decided on a double prefabricated garage with two doors, measuring 6 x 7 meters (20 x 23 feet). The interior will be open. One side is for a car plus some storage space in the back. The second garage will be used for bicycles, a Croozer, lawn mower, grill, children’s toys, and so on.
The entire structure will have a roof and cladding matching the house. There is 2.5 meters (8 feet) of space between the house (entrance) and the garage wall. It will initially be open, with the option to close off the passage to the garden later and add a door.

Just to support your decision once again:
As a rule of thumb, I would plan for a car space of 6 x 3 meters (20 x 10 feet). It can be tighter, but if you look at the size of a VW Passat today, you should plan accordingly. Beyond that, you can consider how much space you need for your bicycles and other items. I would suggest comparing this to your current needs or simply marking out a "space" with tape to try it out. You will see that a double garage is the right choice.

We extended our double garage by 3m (10 feet). The space is well utilized with shelves for various odds and ends, two sets of wheels, an old desk used as a workbench, garden tools, a wheelbarrow, lawn mower, grill, children’s toys, bicycles, a stroller, and more. In winter, the garden furniture and the box for seat cushions are also stored inside. It gets quite tight if you don’t want to block access completely. There are a few areas where we could optimize further, but that’s not a top priority right now.
