Hello everyone! I have been searching for a suitable home builder for a long time. I believe I have finally found the right one and had an initial consultation with the planner.
I have a level plot of land that can be accessed from two sides. I will soon need to decide which side I want the driveway on. The plot is not yet finalized.
Since I have already contacted several construction companies, I know that opinions regarding the driveway location are divided.
In the first image, you can see the planner’s recommendation (townhouse with a porch and the garage on the right).
The second image shows my preferred house placement.
I understand that the costs for utility connections, gravel, paving, etc., will be significantly higher. But approximately how much would these costs be? (The driveway would be about 20 meters (65 feet) long).
I would greatly appreciate your opinions because I am having trouble making a final decision.

maybe my figures will help you a bit. Of course, these numbers are only suitable for a rough comparison. Your builder can obviously calculate a completely different price (you could also pave your driveway with gold bars, then the price wouldn’t be comparable at all) ;-)
Currently, our offer is as follows (including VAT):
135 €/sqm (14 USD/sqft) for a paved driveway
50 €/linear meter (15 USD/linear ft) for curb stones ("edge strip")
If your driveway is 20 meters (65.6 feet) long, then the width is also important. 3 meters (9.8 feet)? 6 meters (19.7 feet)? Depending on that, you’ll get your total square meter area and can use my price for estimation.
Best regards,
Tom
Edit:
By the way, I would choose the eastern side as the driveway simply because I wanted the south/west garden. But your plot outline looks like you might be exceeding the building permit / planning window, so you should check if other neighbors have already received exemptions for this. But that could still be adjusted.
