Hello everyone,

We have booked the "shower bathroom preparation" for our attic, meaning that connections for the toilet, shower, and washbasin will be installed at the locations shown in the plan, but nothing will be fully installed or tiled.

So far, we had planned a master bathroom with a shower there, which we intended to complete in the coming years when time and budget allowed. However, it has now become clear that our utility room, which was also meant to serve as a laundry room, offers very limited space. Therefore, we are considering using the attic bathroom as a utility room instead, since there is direct access to the dressing room and laundry would naturally be handled or stored there.

My idea would be to remove the planned shower and install the washbasin in that space, leaving room opposite for the washing machine and dryer. From a plumbing perspective, this should not be an issue, except that I wouldn’t need a hot water connection there. However, additional electrical work would be required, which—due to the late planning and the need for separate circuit protection for the washer and dryer—would cost about 1,000 euros. We want to be sure this is a good idea and feasible, and we hope to get some feedback from the forum.

The space between the toilet and the washing machine/dryer would be quite tight. Therefore, my main question for the plumbing subforum is: Can I move the toilet? Ideally, can I relocate the toilet to the current shower position and place the washbasin opposite the washing machine? As I understand it, this would require moving the toilet drain and shifting the (hot) water supply from the shower/washbasin area. Is this possible over such a distance?

Thank you for any opinions! (Also open to general feedback on the idea of placing the utility room in the attic).

Stack the appliances on top of each other. That way, you will have more space.

Well... that’s not what my wife had in mind^^ She wants the appliances side by side, with a countertop above them.
