How much does it roughly cost to have tiles installed? Is it usually charged by hourly rate or per square meter?
Thanks for your tips and experiences!
Best regards

Sebastian7 Jun 2009 21:12You should find out what your construction company charges for tiling. Mine charges 45€ per square meter (about $49 per square meter) for tiles, adhesive, and labor. That breaks down to 18€ per square meter (about $20 per square meter) for the tiles and 27€ per square meter (about $29 per square meter) for labor and adhesive.
However, I don’t know how much the adhesive costs per square meter or what the tiler charges separately. I’m located in the Saxony-Anhalt area around Magdeburg.
Maybe you’ll find a tiler this way.

So 18€ per m2 (square meter) of tiles is within our budget. I will check again today.
18€ for tiles is not really much anyway. There is hardly any selection.
Maybe you can save a few euros by hiring a company yourself.
I looked up hourly rates online. It ranges from 19 to 20 for a qualified tiler.

So that leaves 8€ (about $9) per sqm for the tile adhesive? I don’t know much about this, but I’ll call some professional tiling companies to check.
I think you can save some money if you find a tiler yourself.
Unless there is some flexibility in the construction contract that would allow you to increase the tile price per square meter.
Two years ago, my parents-in-law were able to negotiate the price up to 25 euros per square meter for their new build.
