Hello,

I am building a passive house with a calculated value of 10.0 kWh/m²a (3.2 kBtu/ft²/yr). I am interested in the devices mentioned above. Does anyone use any of these units and can share their practical experience? How is the indoor humidity during the deep winter? What is the temperature difference between the indoor air and the supply air, for example at an outdoor temperature of -10°C (14°F) and an indoor temperature of +21°C (70°F)? How loud or quiet is the device, and is a silencer needed?

I also came across the RecoupAerator 200Dx; is this device still considered up to date?

Thank you very much in advance for your answers!

Regards,
Gerhard

Hello Gerhard,

I am using the Systemair VR400DCV/DE unit – I can honestly say that I am very impressed with this device! The VR400 operates very efficiently and is extremely quiet (I don’t use any silencers, and the unit is barely audible even at full power). Since this device allows you to freely adjust the supply air temperature via a reheating coil, I can’t comment on the temperature difference. One of the reasons I chose it was the price-performance ratio and the affordable filter costs, which can be quite high with some manufacturers. The unit was highly recommended to me by my ventilation specialist (who represents several manufacturers). Indoor humidity in winter does not drop below 37%, averaging about 42% (my estimate).

Maybe this helps you with your decision…

Hello Gerhard,

I have the successor model to the VR 400, the SAVE VTR 300, and I am very satisfied with it. The unit has a rotary heat exchanger that recovers moisture from the exhaust air. With the built-in humidity sensor, the device provides controlled rehumidification. During the winter months, we always have over 35% humidity, and even at outdoor temperatures of -15°C (5°F), the unit did not activate frost protection. With an indoor temperature of about 20°C (68°F), I have a supply air temperature of 16°C (61°F). I can highly recommend this device from Systemair in terms of price and performance.

Frank
