Hello,
Yesterday we had the selection appointment for our prefab house and chose a color (it had to be from the Caparol A1 color chart, for some reason). Today we were told the additional cost for this: more than 4,000€.
That really surprised us because we always thought that whether it’s white or color shouldn’t matter much, so where does the extra cost come from? Of course, that’s a bit naive and maybe simplistic, but we really didn’t expect over 4,000€.
Could you share your experiences? I’d be interested to know how much extra color options cost compared to white for you...
Best regards

I'm almost tempted to push the limits of our "color choice" by saying "we'd like the façade in midnight black." But I can't do that, because what if he actually does it and then I'm stuck with my mascara house. Why not? Something different...
I wouldn’t do it either.

Because of yellow? According to the construction service description, HBW > 20 was included. It might be a mixed calculation, since many don’t choose pastel blue, green, or pink, but rather yellow instead... Yes, because of yellow. Of course, Town & Country also offers other plaster colors, but conversely, among well-known home builders, only Town & Country dares to offer this strong shade that is just a tiny bit redder than 11antenavatargelb, giving it a recognizable identity that can promote the brand. Even though many Town & Country houses are white, I would still say: “Town & Country dares to use colors like Porsche. Weberhaus does not.”

But contractually, I could have gotten any color in this range for free.
However, I am repeatedly surprised by what the discount provider includes, compared to what you pay a lot of money for with the legendary architect-designed houses... I used to manufacture aluminum windows, where we apply coatings rather than using foil wraps as a substitute. So I know that stocking countless colors affects pricing. However, if you only need to stock about half a dozen colors, then the tied-up capital and depreciation on obsolete inventory don’t hit the budget as hard, allowing the vibrant colors to be offered without extra charge. With white, it’s not that the pigment is cheaper, but rather the material is a fast seller in inventory. That’s why we could price colors like savings bank red, postal yellow, and Aral blue without surcharge.

Oberhäslich5 Feb 2023 17:57We are also building with Heinz von Heiden and wanted white anyway, so we were able to save that money even though the additional cost is not much. Instead, we chose a colored stone plaster pattern for the base coat for €400.16.
