Hello,
Yesterday we had the selection appointment for our prefab house and chose a color (it had to be from the Caparol A1 color chart, for some reason). Today we were told the additional cost for this: more than 4,000€.
That really surprised us because we always thought that whether it’s white or color shouldn’t matter much, so where does the extra cost come from? Of course, that’s a bit naive and maybe simplistic, but we really didn’t expect over 4,000€.
Could you share your experiences? I’d be interested to know how much extra color options cost compared to white for you...

Fertighaus1232 Feb 2023 13:36Well, naive... Of course, we expected an additional cost, but not 4,000€ (about 4,400 US dollars). Even for the size of the house, that is quite a lot for just a different color...

WilderSueden2 Feb 2023 13:42Therefore, the tip is to define the house as precisely as possible before signing the contract. At this stage, you still have the option to change the provider if one is overcharging. Alternatively, you can keep the house plain and paint it yourself later.

funchesstic2 Feb 2023 14:12So, in the summer of 2021, we paid exactly 4,003 € for 240 m² (2,583 ft²) of facade and 51 m (167 ft) of reveals (location: southern Baden-Württemberg). The surface was painted twice with Brillux facade paint.

Fertighaus1232 Feb 2023 14:35Okay, I’m not exactly sure how to calculate this precisely, but since I designed our house myself, I was able to simply click on the exterior surfaces, with the windows already excluded. This gives me a total of 385 m² (4,146 sq ft). I also didn’t take the reveals into account.
Considering that it’s now the year 2023 and we are building in the Stuttgart metropolitan area, you could almost see our 4,000€ as a bargain again :p. That’s dark humor...
