ᐅ Additional cost for exterior paint when changing from white to color?

Hello,
Yesterday we had the selection appointment for our prefab house and chose a color (it had to be from the Caparol A1 color chart, for some reason). Today we were told the additional cost for this: more than 4,000€.
That really surprised us because we always thought that whether it’s white or color shouldn’t matter much, so where does the extra cost come from? Of course, that’s a bit naive and maybe simplistic, but we really didn’t expect over 4,000€.
Could you share your experiences? I’d be interested to know how much extra color options cost compared to white for you...
Best regards

My plasterer explained to me that even with tinted plaster, it still needs to be painted over with the plaster color. Additionally, he recommends applying a smoothing coat.

Additionally, he recommends a leveling coat. This is not always the case. We also have tinted plaster, and it was not painted again.
The color was included in the price for us, but since it was a specific type of plaster, not every color was possible.
For us, all the light colors were included, and I’ll just say it openly:
Either say it doesn’t matter and then it will be white... or spend the 4000€ and you get your desired color.
I would have chosen B. Yes, painting later is cheaper, but masking everything off and then painting also takes time… do you really want to do that?
You just have to weigh how much it will bother you not to have your preferred color for 2-3 years. I don’t think you’ll change it earlier (too many other things to do).
Here is our paint job attached.

WilderSueden2 Feb 2023 23:13I doubt that painting it yourself later is actually cheaper. We are talking about additional costs of around 10€/sqm (approximately 1 USD/sqft), I looked up facade paints and those easily cost 5€/sqm (about 0.50 USD/sqft). On top of that, you need scaffolding, which takes up most of the remaining budget.

That really shocked us because we always thought it wouldn’t matter whether it was white or colored, I haven’t read the entire thread, so I might be repeating advice already given, but here are some relevant related threads:
