What do you think about applying solar control film to the roof windows? In summer, the attic gets really hot. It’s hardly bearable up there. Does solar control film provide the desired effect, or can I just forget about it?

It must have a reflective surface, as this prevents the greenhouse effect in your attic.
The high-energy light spectrum, especially the red colors, cannot escape through the window they originally passed through.

Maier GmbH12 Aug 2008 17:29I would rather rely on professional help for that. Maybe you know someone who could do it... otherwise, it’s better to hire someone, since removing mistakes is definitely not an easy task.

all right. I will try to find someone to handle the adhesive application for me. I really want to have the protective film on the windows as soon as possible. But it doesn’t make sense to apply the film myself and then get annoyed every day because I glued it inaccurately or incorrectly. I’ll ask around to see if someone has experience with this. If necessary, I’ll ask in the store where I plan to buy the films.

Hello Janni,
I can only congratulate you on your decision to have the solar control films professionally installed. We also have them and can finally tolerate the attic again during the summer months. The difference is really noticeable. We didn’t apply the film ourselves either but had it professionally installed because it needs to be fitted correctly to work effectively.
