ᐅ Structural Engineering / Energy Efficiency Regulations – Is the Quote Fair?

Hello,
I have a question about the structural engineer’s fees.
For my construction project:

New bungalow, 150m² (1,615 sq ft) + heated living space in existing basement, 66m² (710 sq ft), I received the following cost estimate:

1500 € net structural calculation, design phase 4 according to HOAI
850 € net energy performance certificate 2016 compliance verification
500 € net preparation of confirmation for application (BZA)/BnD KFW55
600 € net execution of structural monitoring according to HBO 59/73

Is this roughly appropriate?

Thanks a lot!
Best regards

It was somewhat exaggerated, that much had to be acknowledged.
At 1500, no one invests significant time and effort into structural analysis, especially not when there are also reinforcement and formwork plans available.

Hi, sorry for not replying to you all sooner. The structural engineer was recommended by my architect, and apparently he doesn’t use reinforcing bars. I can ask him if I’m allowed to share his contact details. However, I think this only makes sense for Rheinland-Pfalz and Hesse. In my case, there is already a very good existing structural analysis because I am building on top of an existing building and only adding one more floor.

Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse are comparable.

Safety factors of 100%,... are hardly likely with today’s verification methods. The real question is more about what assumptions were made, such as regarding the soil conditions—whether soil samples were taken or compared—and whether finite element analyses were considered.

This is where quality really stands out from the rest.
And the client may end up bearing the costs of any damages.

Of course, everyone looks at price,
but no one with a university degree is foolish enough
to deliver a result that matches only the price.
Structural engineers, in particular, have been in high demand for years
and can choose their projects carefully.
