concrete was used in our case. The structure is huge; from what I recall, I would estimate about 2.5 meters (8 feet) deep and at least 1 meter (3 feet) in diameter. The depth is determined by the position of the sewer (it has to go down to the sewer level), and the diameter is to make it accessible.
I would prefer concrete. It’s simply more robust, especially in case a digger accidentally drives over it during the construction phase. A plastic shaft wouldn’t survive that.
