Hello,

This year, we plan to build our terrace. For our floor-to-ceiling windows, we deliberately chose not to install the usual aluminum window sills, so that our terrace surface (probably concrete pavers) can be seamlessly connected. A rain gutter might also be installed in front of it. Now the question is: what is the best way to waterproof it? The purple Syrodor can or should of course be trimmed back. But what and how should we apply on top? Do you have any professional advice for me? Thank you very much!

Hi, I’m curious, what does it look like behind the Styrodur insulation? As far as I know, the joint between the foundation slab and the window needs to be sealed, as well as the connections to the masonry on both sides, for example with liquid applied membrane (surface roughening, priming, first layer of liquid membrane, insert fleece, second layer of liquid membrane). I’d recommend having a professional handle that.

Regarding the gutter, if it’s not covered, you should definitely use a gutter.

Using a liquid applied membrane is an option. But what do you think about a waterproofing membrane like this one from Allwetter (see picture)?

I am now going to apply the waterproofing using PCI Barraseal Ready, but first I need to fill the gaps between the rigid insulation and the brick veneer or window frame with expanding foam and trim the rigid insulation slightly. Now the question: Which expanding foam is suitable for this purpose?
