Hello everyone,

We are now having the shell inspection with the plumber. We already selected the fixtures back in March.

1. About the heating:
Our initial scope of work listed two models. The reason given was: "Depending on which one fits your house better." The contract now specifies the Stiebel Eltron LWZ 5S. So, I assume that a heating load calculation has been done and that this system fits our house, or am I mistaken?

2. About the inspection:
I understand that we will finalize the exact locations for the water connections and toilets. One point is the utility sink in the technical room. We would prefer a full-sized table here and need to discuss whether the plumber will install this or if we are allowed to buy it from the furniture store.

3. About the underfloor heating:
As the client, do we have any say in this? I would like to express that I prefer a low flow temperature and to ask if they can lay the loops quite close together. Of course, this is more like telling the contractor how I would like their work to be done.

Thank you all.

At least this is the heat pump with the lowest capacity. That’s already something positive. Just ask for the heating load calculation. Also ask about the heating system design. You don’t want it planned for a 45-degree Celsius (113°F) flow temperature just to allow a large (cheap but inefficient) spacing of the underfloor heating loops.

Get involved in the topic. As the saying goes: He who pays the piper calls the tune!

Try searching here in the forum for heating / heating design / flow temperature / pipe spacing, etc. There are many threads about efficient heating.

Make sure to pay close attention to the installation spacing and have the heating load calculation provided. In the bathroom, you should insist on 5 cm (2 inches) spacing as a general recommendation. We even included the shower walls to avoid the very large room becoming too cold. I would buy the table elsewhere; the prices for such items from sanitary suppliers are simply outrageous.

The spacing of the heating loops is either 6.5 cm (2.6 inches) or 13 cm (5.1 inches), depending on the rooms. The length is limited to a maximum of 80 m (262 feet). We have 27 heating circuits for 138 sqm (1486 sqft). The supply temperature should be below 30°C (86°F). You can even find the installation plan in my construction plan thread 😎 Just search for Fichtenwalde.
