Good evening,
We have the following problem: sometimes there is a smell of marijuana or hashish in the children's room. We recently bought the house. It is a prefabricated house with a solid basement. The children's room was completely renovated, meaning new flooring, new wallpaper, and a dropped ceiling installed. This smell does not occur all the time. We cut some holes in the wall to check whether the mineral wool insulation was okay, which it is. The insulation is dry and does not smell like that. We also found no animals or anything else. Please help, as we are getting desperate. Oh, and no one in our household or the neighborhood smokes marijuana.

Maybe you could just share some photos of the room and the outdoor area. Based on your rather brief replies, one might assume that you’re not looking closely or recognizing parallels regarding the mentioned issues.tomtom79 schrieb:
Flowers in the room? Has anyone else ever noticed a smell? We all took the flowers out of the room.Kudi1985 schrieb:
We have removed all the plants from the room.Yes, others have also confirmed that it smells like marijuana.Only the female flowers are relevant for THC production. And THC itself has no smell.
The rest of the plant is used for other purposes and, in my opinion, could smell like cannabis. So, looking at it this way, the stuffed animals or the mattress might contain hemp-like materials. There are even baby essentials like fleece liners, diapers, etc., that are partially made from hemp. The curtain could also be made from hemp. Whether this smells like cannabis when, for example, damp, I do not know.
The plants in the pots on the windowsill could also smell hemp-like if you touch them or the wind is right. That’s why I suggested rubbing the leaves between your fingers.
The resinous trees, meaning the resin itself, might also emit a similar scent.
I think the responses here should reassure you regarding the smell. And if you search online, you’ll find plenty of items made from hemp and people noticing similar odors without using cannabis.
