ᐅ Electric roller shutters in new construction

Hello everyone,

we are slowly entering the final phase and hopefully will start construction within the next four weeks.

We have a great general contractor, but we feel that their expertise regarding roller shutters is lacking.

For each electric roller shutter (no central control, simple open/close switch) they have estimated 1000€.

Now we would like to get an independent quote. Are there any references or recommendations here in the forum, preferably from the Hamburg/Lübeck area?

What should we realistically expect per electric roller shutter:

Patio door element 200 x 220 cm (79 x 87 inches)
Window 150 x 130 cm (59 x 51 inches)
Window 60 x 110 cm (24 x 43 inches)

And what would be the approximate additional cost if we opt for a timer switch instead of a regular switch?

Thank you very much for your help!!

Best regards,

Well, that has nothing to do with electric roller shutters – at least, I find cranks or even straps unattractive.

And for shading, a central control system is really useful.

On the ground floor, we only have three venetian blinds, otherwise no roller shutters or similar.

My window installer prepared everything; I just had to slide in and hang the motor, which was quite straightforward

That’s exactly how I imagine it. From what I’ve seen in the installation manuals for these tubular motors, it doesn’t seem like a complicated process. The only uncertainty is whether every window installer is willing to do it. Otherwise, you’d have to open the roller shutter box yourself and install the tubular motor.

My post referred to retrofitting afterwards when you have decided on either a belt or a crank... If the roller shutter installer has already inserted a tube, and you only have to install the motors, it will of course be cheaper. That’s how I did it myself, but even here you may need to buy bearings and/or adapters, since you might want completely different motors than those provided by the roller shutter installer.
