ᐅ Electric roller shutters in new construction

Hello everyone,

we are slowly entering the final phase and hopefully will start construction within the next four weeks.

We have a great general contractor, but we feel that their expertise regarding roller shutters is lacking.

For each electric roller shutter (no central control, simple open/close switch) they have estimated 1000€.

Now we would like to get an independent quote. Are there any references or recommendations here in the forum, preferably from the Hamburg/Lübeck area?

What should we realistically expect per electric roller shutter:

Patio door element 200 x 220 cm (79 x 87 inches)
Window 150 x 130 cm (59 x 51 inches)
Window 60 x 110 cm (24 x 43 inches)

And what would be the approximate additional cost if we opt for a timer switch instead of a regular switch?

Wow, that’s quite a statement. Basically, a standard setup only requires a motor costing 100–150€ depending on the window size, plus installation, an electrical supply line to the motor, and wiring to the switch for up and down. Our general contractor charges 2700€ for 10 shutters, just as a reference. We are doing the whole thing in electrical installation.

Extra charge or from zero to one hundred?
Viebrockhaus charged 720 € for 2m x 2m (6.6 ft x 6.6 ft) back then – I believe from zero to one hundred.
The extra charge for us was 390 € (which is rather expensive) – a building expert once mentioned an extra charge of about 320 €.

Additional cost for electric drives for the existing roller shutters, individual control, 440 euros per window in our case.

Does the window already have a roller shutter, or is that included in the 1000 euros?

The 1000€ refers in our case to the total price per unit – including roller shutter, motor, switch, cable, and installation.

From a quotation:

Electric roller shutters (with a slide-in lock as burglary protection) for the windows marked in the drawing, consisting of:

- Roller shutter curtain (unless otherwise specified, made of plastic), color according to sample selection
- Roller shutter box
- Roller shutter motor
- Roller shutter guide rail

For windows or patio doors with an opening width greater than 1.76 m (69 inches), the roller shutter curtain will be made of aluminum profiles for structural reasons.
This appearance does not match that of the plastic curtain.
Operation is via a standard roller shutter switch.
