Hello dear forum, I am a bit clueless and came across this forum through a Google search.

Let me explain my problem. I would like to convert the kitchen into a bathroom. The issue(?) is the old drain pipe with a diameter of DN50, which I have already removed from the basement up to the top floor and will replace with a larger one.

Question 1. Which size is recommended for a toilet? Most people have told me that it should be at least DN100. However, I found a report claiming that DN80 is completely sufficient, as long as a 9-liter flush is not used, which I do not plan to install.

The other problem is that in the basement, the DN50 pipe ran or runs into a cast iron pipe that leads to the sewer. This means that with the DN80 or DN100 drain pipe, I could only connect to the sewer with a reducer to DN50.

But that won’t work well for long, using a DN50 pipe as a drain, even if it is just the short section to the sewer, right?

Thanks for any help,
best regards
