Hello everyone!
We are building a house this year, and since we’ve always watched TV via cable in our rental apartment, I have no idea about satellite TV or the wiring inside the house.
We want to watch TV using a satellite system in the future, but we also want to have a cable connection installed to use phone and internet services over cable.
So far, so good!
But how should I imagine the wiring inside the house? Assuming the satellite system including wiring costs around 1,000 EUR, I guess I will have to pay extra for the cable wiring as well, right? There must be cables running from the distribution box in the basement to the rooms where I then plug my Wi-Fi router into the multimedia outlet (I think that’s what the cable provider calls that connection)...
Or am I completely wrong here? I hope you can help me out!
Thanks!

No idea, since we don’t have any cable in the house and don’t miss it either. Satellite only costs once, and then it’s fine. I don’t need internet faster than the 16,000 DSL line. I had a 50,000 connection at the rental apartment with KBW but never used it, and unfortunately often had problems on weekends because too many users were connected to the same node.

Do you happen to know how it works with an existing contract? We currently already have a contract for internet and phone in our rental apartment!Hello,
I’m not sure if it’s the same with Kabel BW, I am with Kabel Deutschland and paid 199€ (approximately $215) for the connection (groundwork done by the customer).
In my case, it’s similar to yours:
Satellite dish on the roof, from there to a multiswitch in the basement, and then to the individual rooms. There are multiswitches that allow you to feed the cable signal additionally.
I would keep the cable modem in the basement and connect the router or an access point to a network socket on the ground floor (or upper floor).

yes, the same problem with Kabel BW here.
The decision for the satellite system is final. It only has advantages in terms of technology, signal quality, number of channels, and costs.
For telephone and internet, you probably need to distribute the signal best via home multimedia outlets (I’m not that far along with the electrical planning yet), using only the telephone devices and internet cables. If you need Wi-Fi, you can always create a Wi-Fi access point from the internet outlet.
