Hello everyone!
We have been living in our newly built home since September 2022. For a few weeks now, some areas of the click vinyl flooring installed by the professional company have started to creak. I am a complete layperson. What could be causing this? Do I still have a warranty, and is this considered a defect?
Thank you very much in advance for your feedback.

You can simply treat this as a defect, request remedial work, and at the same time consider it as part of the character. If you manage that, you will no longer feel pressured, and challenges become easier to resolve.

If a floor panel with side locking—whether laminate, engineered wood, or another type—creaks continuously under pressure, this is likely due to possible rotational movements within the locking system; in the past, this was tongue and groove.

The question is: is this acceptable or not?

The answer: depending on durability and/or noise level, it is NOT acceptable, since properly installed systems are generally not prone to creaking.

Another example: everyone listens closely when someone walks across the floor, and a slight creak is audible.

In such a case (presented here purely hypothetically), this would certainly not be considered a defect.

However, if it creaked with every step to the point where even the cat would instantly become alert, that would not be acceptable.

Of course, we here in the forum do not know the exact situation you are experiencing.

These notes should, however, provide a helpful reference for you, the questioner, to assess the noise objectively and without emotion.
