Hello everyone,

After countless rejections due to overload, availability, and delivery issues, I have finally received an offer for a photovoltaic system.
The system is planned for our new build (completion in 2023). We have a gable roof, almost south-facing, with a 30-degree pitch, fully usable, about 50 sqm (540 sq ft) of roof area per side.
The house is being built in Bavaria, about 60 km (37 miles) from Thuringia.

The offer surprised me a bit. The following items are included:
14x MAXEON modules at 430 W each, heat pump system, totaling 6.02 kWp - €11,138
1x Tesla Powerwall 2.0, 13.5 kWh - €10,400
Installation, etc. - €3,130
Total: €24,668 net

I find that quite expensive. I would leave out the battery anyway, but even then, I think the price for the 6 kWp system is too high. Apparently, this is currently the price you pay in Bavaria if you can find someone at all. For me, the question is whether it even makes sense to invest right now or just pay for electricity. Of course, it’s a matter of calculation, but if you follow the discussions here, those prices seem sky-high — or not?
Is it better to get offers from other regions? Are there any recommendations around the 97XXX area?

It would be too expensive for me as well.
You have already correctly identified that leaving out the storage system makes sense. The size of the storage is not reasonable given the size of the photovoltaic system. Even in summer, you will hardly be able to fully charge it.
It is best to obtain additional comparison quotes.

That’s exactly the problem—I’m not getting any quotes. Every specialist company in the region tells me straight away that there’s no chance to provide even one quote this year.

Have you already checked in a specialized forum?
I’m not sure how busy they are, but back then I received a good offer (while the local companies mostly didn’t respond due to lack of interest).

I find this quite expensive; I would skip the battery anyway, but even then I think the price for the 6 kWp system is way too high. Apparently, however, this is currently the price you pay in Bavaria if you can even find a supplier. For me, the question is whether it makes sense to invest now or just pay the electricity bill. Of course, it’s a matter of calculation, but if you read along here, these seem like sky-high prices – or not?
Is it better to obtain offers from suppliers outside the region? Any recommendations around the 97XXX area?

I also don’t understand why only 14 modules should fit on 2x 50sqm.
I think (without having calculated exactly) that at least 32 modules should fit, i.e., 16 per side.
And yes, the price is alarming. Perhaps a system of about 13.1 kWp would offer a better price/performance ratio?
Still, I estimate that with the expected 50 cents per kWh it will pay off, but my crystal ball is very, very cloudy.

Getting a photovoltaic system this year is like playing the lottery.
Apart from the limited options available, Fronius has already stated that they cannot supply inverters with data management, and they are currently looking for an external solution.
